The P\u0101 is the largest capital project in the university\u2019s 58-year history and aims to bring a new vibrancy. It will house a new campus wharenui, performance stage, offices and teaching areas as well as a student hub area with a food court and event space.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fluid was engaged by Hawkins to conduct the Mechanical Modelling and Coordination for this project and the \u201cdesign was signified to recognise the importance of enabling cultural expression within the wider educational experience, sheltering the various facilities beneath a majestic whakaruruhau (roof structure). The progress on the inspiring building includes the huge, engineered glulam timber beams which provide the structural form for The P\u0101. It\u2019s one of the biggest examples of using structural glulam beams in Aotearoa\u201d Hawkins.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Construction of The P\u0101 at The University of Waikato Te Whare W\u0101nanga o Waikato is due to be completed early 2023.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
